Animal Keeper:
Fulltime or Part time open position for enthusiastic, mature and responsible individual with special interest in working with the largest collection of kangaroos outside Australia. Requirements and duties may include, but not be limited to, animal handling, habitat cleaning and maintenance, diet preparation and distribution, exhibit landscape care, buildings’ routine maintenance, assisting with veterinary care, hand raising animals, record keeping and speaking eloquently (English) with visitors. Bachelor’s degree and minimum 1-year full-time animal keeper experience (post college) preferred. Ability to operate small tractor/mower equipment including standard shift is preferred. Mechanical and construction skills helpful. Required to be physically fit, non-smoker and able to carry minimum of 50 LB. Most work will be performed outdoors year-round in any/all weather conditions and include walking on hilly acreage. Must be flexible in scheduling, willing to work holidays and weekends as needed. Must reside within 25 miles from Center. Starting salary commensurate with education and experience. Drug checks routinely done; no use of illegal drugs tolerated. This position is heavily directed towards excelling in animal husbandry and requires a strong commitment from any applicant.
