Recent Awards-

  • Rated "Fodor's Choice" by Fodor's 2007 "The Carolinas and Georgia" guidebook (17th edition.)  Fodor's describes the "Fodor's Choice" rating like so:  "As travelers we've all discovered a place so wonderful that its worthiness is obvious.  And sometimes that place is so unique that superlatives don't do it justice:  you just have to be there to know.  These sights, properties, and experiences get our highest rating."

Past Awards-

New Exhibits-

Two seasonal aviaries featuring our Rose Breasted Cockatoos and our Mulga Parrots.

New Animals-

"Rose'" and "Syrah" - Rose Breasted Cockatoos - Also known as Galahs in Australia.  A very colorful, animated and clever parrot which are an iconic animal of Australia.

Blue Crowned Pigeon - This young male bird was acquired to be paired with our female pigeon at our Billabong.  Hopefully they will soon reproduce to aid in conservation efforts for this species.

"Chance" - Common Wallaroo - This species is  not a mixture of a kangaroo and a wallaby as their common name sometimes infers.  This kangaroo species gets its name from its medium comparative size.

Recent Births/Hatchings-

Bettongs - 4 joeys in pouch.

Agile Wallabies - joeys at foot.

Red Kangaroos, Western Grey Kangaroos, and Eastern Grey Kangaroos in pouches and at foot.

Buff Banded Rails - Eggs laid.
